Applies to: HPE iLO 4 and iLO 5 (ProLiant servers). The navigation path is consistent across both.
HPE iLO is a Planned vendor for ipmideck — these steps are from official HPE documentation but should be confirmed against your specific iLO version before use. IPMI/DCMI over LAN is disabled by default on iLO 5 for security reasons.

Steps

1

Open the iLO web interface

In a browser, navigate to the iLO IP address and log in with iLO administrator credentials.

2

Open Security settings

In the left navigation pane, click Security.

4

Enable IPMI/DCMI over LAN

Check the box for IPMI/DCMI over LAN to enable IPMI access.

5

Apply

Click Apply. IPMI-over-LAN uses the default port 623.
6

Verify connectivity

From the host that will run ipmideck:
ipmitool -I lanplus -H <ilo-ip> -U <user> -P <password> chassis status
Flag for review: iLO 4 may use a slightly different path (a Network tab rather than the Security tab). Verify against your specific iLO version before relying on these steps.
